Making commission revenue visible

Revenue operations and financial-process redesign for an international education consultancy

Client: Conduira Education & Training Services
Industry: International education / study abroad
Engagement: Process redesign, solution architecture and implementation

The business priority

Conduira needed a clearer view of commission revenue across students, university partners, currencies and payment installments. The engagement focused on separating service delivery from financial tracking, with a structured commission and invoice model to support receivables management and leadership reporting.

The operating challenge

Commission and invoice tracking relied on spreadsheets. Consolidating expected commission, final commission, invoiced amounts and receipts required manual work. Multiple currencies and installment payments added reconciliation complexity and made outstanding commissions difficult to see clearly.

My strategic contribution

I delivered this work in my role at Conduira, covering discovery, financial-process design, data-model architecture, reporting design, implementation and delivery oversight. I translated the financial reporting and reconciliation needs into a structured commission and invoice model, from discovery through go-live in approximately three months.

What made this complex

Multiple invoices and partial receipts had to reconcile with expected and final commission. Currency conversion and exchange differences added another layer: payment matching, balances and management reporting had to remain consistent across the same financial lifecycle.

Key decisions and their business purpose

Define the financial distinctions first. Separate expected and final commission from invoiced, received and outstanding amounts. This gives leadership a clearer basis for distinguishing revenue expectations from collections.

Model installments and receipts explicitly. Link multiple invoices to each service and track partial receipts, with automatic payment matching. This connects detailed reconciliation with a consolidated view of outstanding commissions.

Connect currency handling to reporting. Combine conversion and exchange-difference handling with roll-ups and balance calculations. This supports consistent intake, partner and receivables reporting.

FROM DESIGN TO DELIVERY

What changed in the operation

What was delivered

  • Commission records covering expected and final amounts, currency and installment count.

  • Multiple invoices per service, with partial receipts, outstanding balances and invoice status tracking.

  • Currency conversion, exchange-difference handling and automatic matching of payments to invoices.

  • Automated roll-ups, balance calculations and status updates, with intake, partner and receivables reporting.

Before and after

  • Commission visibility: Spreadsheet-based tracking → Separate commission and invoice views

  • Reconciliation: Manual reconciliation → Automatic payment-to-invoice matching

  • Currency handling: Manual spreadsheet work → Currency conversion and exchange-difference handling

  • Management reporting: Manual aggregation → Consolidated intake, partner and receivables reporting

The operational outcome

The implementation enabled faster reporting, reduced manual reconciliation and gave teams clear visibility of outstanding commissions. These are qualitative outcomes observed in the operation; no numerical performance improvement is asserted.

Consulting perspective. A clearer financial model can improve the quality of management information before more reporting is added.
